Youth Representative

 

My travels have continued throughout the district, soon I will have completed my first round of visits, and can I say the reception and advice, I have received from you all is heart warming, thank you to everyone.

The second meeting of the GM Young Freemasons Committee was held at the Albert street center on Friday 11th September, this meeting was somewhat  different to the previous one. Unfortunately not all district representatives were able to attend, though all who were there contributed in a manner which allowed for , in my opinion progress to be made. Listed are some of the decisions arising from that meeting:

  • A goals/ action plan, will now be drafted for the committee, by the committee members, together with a time line and schedule to measure the success of all goals set by the group.
  • A sub committee was formed to look into the viability of creating, not so much a youth forum each year, but more like an expo of freemasonry for brethren, and the general public.
  • It was also discussed and agreed to create a blog site for our group to discuss matters online, and read everyone’s thoughts about the topics, one of the brethren present has begun work on creating that site.
  • There is now a standard agenda for our meetings, which can be easily augmented.

For anyone not familiar with a blog page, it is simply a website constructed for the sole purpose of discussing ideas, where all those allowed access can submit their point of view on topics which have been posted to the site by other members. 

Now I have a confident feeling that this committee will be pro active in creating a viable future for the craft, lets hope this momentum continues.

All lodges within the district will, in the coming weeks receive a letter explaining the first of two district projects, which are being developed. I would ask that you read the letter in lodge, or at least have it affixed to the temple notice board so that all brethren have access to it.
